Oriental Wind - "Oriental Wind" {Turkey} [1972] (oriental jazz fusion)

"ORIENTAL WIND present their fiery brand of Turkish folk-beat with a savour of Africa. The dynamic ensemble is incisive as the group unfolds its magic folk melodies. The enchanting repertoire of lyrical swinging improvisations is heightened by the instrumental variety provided by the different saxophones, flutes, piano and all manner of drums and percussion. The tough flexibility of the 9/8 and 7/8 rythms against the drive of the bass and Okay's scintillating drums, gives the music a warm and rolling impetus. Their momentum is unstopable and such exotic instruments as berimbau, finger-piano, tavil and talking-drum enhance superbly the mysterious impact of the group.

Oriental Wind have performed for concerts and at major festivals in such cities as Athens, Amsterdam, Balver Höhle, Bangalore, Barcelona, Basel, Berlin, Bern, Bombay, Brussells, Calcutta, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Hannover, Hamburg, Helsinki, Istanbul, London, Luxemburg, Madras, Montreaux, Munich, Nimes, North Sea Festival, Oslo, Paris, Rotterdam, Stockholm and others." some more info here

Hello Nahavanda,

I've enjoyed Bosporus Bridges very much. This one too.
In fact, I love this Turkish/oriental style of fusion.

Both albums have given me a bit of an insight in oriental music, so I'm curious for more...

Thanks for this great experience, and have a nice day!

I'm really Happy you had this one here for download!! I have this LP since the 70ies and was looking for the mp3-version now, so i can listen to it on the Mac as well ;-)
my fave song is Tamara ... with all those rhythm changes!!!

once i was in turkey for holidays and did ask for Okay Temiz records in some music stores. they didn't have any, but they were totally surprised that a bloody swiss tourist did know about Okay Temiz ;-)

I just see on the record, it's recorded in 1977 - not 1972. well, anyway, in the 70ies, that's what counts ;-)

Hi. You have a nice site. Can you reupload this album? I`ve been looking for long for this... Thanks!

Dying for a repost of this! I would simply buy it from iTunes if I could, but their damn country restrictions mean I have to sit and watch how just about every other country has it available except Australia - and we have a huge Turkish population! No justice in the world...

Damn! Can't find this anywhere...Maybe it has never been re-issued on CD. I've a recording on Tamara-Delihoron off the radio, in 1986.. Only just found out who it is, thanks to shazam!!
