Here is the place for requests, contrubutions, suggestions..you can reach this section by clicking requests from the homepage..this place is not aiming to be a downloading arena..so please contrubute your albums with small infos, reviews..please dont request albums from 1997-2007..only 1 request at a time so every of us can focus to find.. this place will be a collective work of all prognotfrog family (you counted)..so let we try to find requests all together..it is also a tiny simulation of upcoming forum..sharing is caring!

Hi nahavanda,

I don't know how to thank you! Both Megaton & Dancer album links are here!!! You made my day, man! I'm deeply into heavy progressive rock, so, these albums are essential for me. Thanks a ton, man!

India was at the peak of musical creativity since late '60s & I think, have contributed a lot in '60s psych flower power movement (you'll notice that in Beatles later day albums). Musicains like Ananda Shankar, Zakir Hussain & Ravi Shankar were in top form. Why don't you post the albums of Shakti & also, Jerry Garcia & Sanjay Mishra - Blue Incantation? They are real beauties & truly progressive. I'm in search of an Indian band called The Savages who released 2 albums which is now available on 2-on-1 bootleg CD called Black Scorpio / Live. If anyone can help me out...

As for my contribution, I'd like to share some of my 'readymade links' which are all great progressive albums:

Hello friends..first of all i didnt expect this kind of an interest to this section..During 2 days i tried to send all albums you requested..the pity thing is uploading a single album takes at least 45 minutes (tagging, zipping, uploading)

i rejected more than 15 posts..all the people requested great titles but:
-some of them from 2000s..we dont post from 2000s (1997-2007)
-some of them requested many requests at a time..you see how uncomfortable place this comments are..i dont want one day it become a wishlisht trashcan..so 1 request at a time..others will rejected
-some of them easy to find titles..yes noone requested "pink floyd - the wall" like common album..but before requesting here
you should search it in http://blogsearch.google.com (mebbe your request posted to a blog?) dc++ and emule networks..as i said uploading an album takes 45 minutes and everyone have a life

you may send this links to forums..you may present them in your blogs..so every smilar ear can enjoy more

after the requests completed..i will delete the original message..so you can take a look featured requests easily

Before requesting anything from here..first take a look at what people requested..and if you have the title dont hesistate to send..i will only look to the requests at weekends..and i try to support this section with 1-2 albums..sometimes i may knock the section so that we can focus the previous requests..users of soulseek may add me..my nick is "nahavanda" and a computer open 7/24 in soulseek network..

let we grow silently, peacefully with harmony :)

bp, here is a program you can use to convert any format into wav, from which you can easily encode into mp3:

dBpowerAMP Music Converter

Simply install dMC-r10.1 from the Install folder after unzipping, then install dBpowerAMP-codec-musepack.exe from the main folder, and that will allow you to convert .mpc files with ease. Unfortunately, they place restrictions on the mp3 codec, so a second encoder will need to be used to encode from .wav to .mp3, but they are widealy available, I recommend CDex or EAC to perform this function. Enjoy!!

Hello everyone!

If any of you will be visiting Ghent (Belgium) in the next couple of months, you should take out a few hours to see the fabulous Stanley Kubrick exhibition. By the way, I'm hoping to be able to explore some of the music by one of Kubricks favourites: György Ligeti. So if anyone has got some music by that composer, I would be grateful. I'm not sure Ligeti's music fits into the whole prognotfrog philosphy but I'd like to think it would. Thanks!

With a title like this, you might imagine some energetic bonkers Balkanism, good for winding up the controller of Radio 2, but little more. However former Croatian new wave star Rundek, now a voluntary exile in Paris, crafts sneaky, snakey songs in several languages, backed by a multi-talented group that holds it together magnificently on record as they did at their recent London shows.

There are elements of folk, rock, prog and tango, sharply focused by Rundek's vocals. The eclecticism is a plus: each track has distinction and character. Rundek, whose track record includes theatre direction and improv as well as Croatian rock'n'roll, is a sensitive writer, mature enough to let his band rip up the material and stitch it back together with blaring brass, soaring fiddle (Swiss electric violinist Isabel) and a cracking punk-funk backline. Rundek makes angular melodies sound as sweet as lullabies. And vice versa. In these bland times he's a necessary character to have around.

http://rapidshare.de/files/36137341/Kednur_okrad.rar

With the expansivness of the music here. I thought i had to include the premier musician of our age who makes me proud of my country in a good way :D Enjoy

How stupid could I be for not paying enough attention to this post. Now, that I noticed 86 posts, I opened it and what do I see? Lots of links to undiscovered gems, most of them not working because the 10 days threshold expired and RapidShare has deleted the archive.
Shame on me. Now if you could only ease my pain by posting two albums I searched everywhere:
Eskaton - 4 Visions
Uzeb - Live (the one with Didier Lockwood).

Otherwise, keep up the good work. I promise to come back every day and check up what else is going on.

Cheers,
Tommy

Panos1- Good find, but did you by any chance find the password with that? By my count, this is the third time a file has been posted in this requests page with no password. One, I luckily found myself after a webhunt and posted. Could I respectfully request that people please check files for requisite passwords before posting. It kind of puts a damper on an otherwise brilliant, and exceedingly well moderated blog. I don't want to sound ungrateful, I absolutely love this blog- one of, if not the best, on the web. It's just that for those who don't have premium rs accounts, a file with no password is a wasted download.

I'd like to know something from Gravestone(opinions/info),is it from 70s?There's nothing in the prog sites.

Anonymous said...

Thanks Yann & Brazilian Proghead for the links of Wind & Gravestone. Thanks a million buddies. Here is the info for Gravestone:

"Stoned underground progressive rock from german anno 1979. When you listen to it you`d think it was 1969 tho, long jammy rocksongs with plenty of good guitarwork and a general sort of edge and darkness to it that I like. Its not really heavy tho, it would have been heavy in 1969, but it is not 1979 kinda heavy. Listen to it and you`ll hear what Im trying to say. That one guy looks like a very young, stoned and goofy Michael "Mikey" Teutul. Actually they all look pretty stoned and goofy. The band plays a lot better than it looks, lets put it that way.

Reissue of rare late 70s German underground psychedelic hard rock with a weird gloomy spacey edge to it and production that almost sounds like late 60s. Lots of long jamming parts and a few instrumentals. The bonus track is a cover version of UFO's godlike "Flying" song from their second album. These guys went on to put out some heavy metal records in the 80s, but this is so far removed from that it's almost not even worth mentioning."

If you want to contact me, here is my email ID:
aveekchatterjee2005@gmail.com. I have a huge collection of rare albums & videos & maintain a database of the same. If you are interested in trading (in CDRs), please drop me an email.

Also, if you have the album Locomotive (UK, pre-Samurai & Web) - We Are Everything You See, could you please send me a link?

Regards & Thanks again!
Aveek

Anonymous said...

hi brazilian proghead.

gravestone are generally treated as heavy metal band, hence no inclusion on prog sites.

Doomsday is their debut from 1979 and has that 70's sound with heavy/prog touches here and there. in 80's they acquired proper metal sound.

all the best! Noisenik.

Anonymous said...

About the Gravestone's album i would add : it was recorded at AVC Studio in february 1979 and reissued on CD at Garden of Delights in 2004.
Maybe it's hard to classify because they play early heavy prog at the end of the 70's and sound like a session band.

Hello, my name is Erni Vidal, an Argentinian musician born and living at Mendoza, in the extreme-west of Arg., very near the Los Andes' mountains.
OK, also I am one of the founders and bassist of the ZONDA PROJECKT, the band focused in instrumental progressive music with main influences '80s-'90s King Crimson and '70s Soft Machine. As you know, our debut album was El Llanto Secreto De La Luna, from 2002. OK right now I put an Official Bootleg of ZP in Rapid Share, so I want to offer you to download these disc to add to the excellent Prog Not Frog blog, and to share with your readers.
All soundboard takes, concerts from 2004-2005 (previous formation), and 2006 (current era/lineup). All quality A, bitrate 224-256. Obviously, for non-commercial/only promotional use. Includes 2 jpg files (24 x 12 cm.) with artwork to print.
You can get it right now at:

OK Thanks very much and sorry for my bad english, which is basic.

Dear people of the real-good and very-nice Prog Not Frog blog:

Here again, Erni Vidal (Zonda Projeckt/inst. prog) from Mendoza, Argentina.
At this time, I wish to give other very small and modest (but made with real interest and affection) gift for you and all the good people who are the PNF and prog fans.

In parallel to the ZP activity, I carry an little solo-career in prog music (al least I try!) here in my province; in 1997 and 2000 I release two solo albums of instrumental prog, the first called 'Draghi' (a sort of prog new age, tribute to the argentinian writer and poet Juan Draghi Lucero), and the 2nd and last, FRAGMENTOS ('Fragments',2000), much more 'free' (no conceptual-work), and with calm and energetic passages, and (fortunately!) with the collaboration of extraordinaire guest musician friends, as well the master BEATRIZ PLANA (flute concertist!), my current partner in the Zonda's project MARIO MÁTAR (guitar virtuoso!, you can heard him in the tracks!!), and more.
Well, as a Sample CD, I leave to you now and here a small compilation (an EP disc) from this (edited in my country only) album, in the similar way to the ZP Official Bootleg, to download free. There are 7 (seven) tracks (Fragmentos are 14 in total, in the whole album), of course choosen by myself to your hearing, and with (the more possible) eclectic mix and musician's good performance. Instrumental progressive, in this work I played most of the instruments in a studio project, (obviously) bass, and mellotron, synth, and some guitars. At these days with my dear friend and talented drummer, Tuti Vega, we don't work togheter in the Zonda Projeckt yet (ZP born in September, 2000); so the drums was carefully (all at my reach!) programmed by myself, too. Experimental passages and climates with many Fripp-ish/Crimsonic guitar lines (e-bow and reverse delays cameras combo), and neoprogressive with a under feel.
OK! If you (and/or your PNF blog's fans) very enjoy these tracks, well I probably will upload the complete FRAGMENTOS album to share with all of you. Of course, I await your comments! Thanks in advance!.

As usual, in the zip file you will find:
The Sample EP FRAGMENTOS (7 tracks), good quality.mp3 (@256);
A text sheet with some info about the record and the individual tracks (musicians, instruments etc.), and
The cover art (front and cover), in good quality (.jpg, 300 dpi) to print.

Here the link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/4073749/Sample_E.VIDAL_CIA.-FRAGMENTOS.zip.html

HOPE YOU ENJOY MY MUSIC!

Best regards from Mendoza,

ERNI
laprogresion@yahoo.com.ar
http://laprogresion.blogspot.com
http://laprogresionrecords.blogspot.com

Some hints to pay attention please:
-In FRAGMENTOS (DE UN BLUES APÓCRIFO) -The amazing work in flute of B. Plana - And the wonderful, powerful guitar solo of M. Mátar!
-CANDIL DEL ALMA -Auto pan in the stereo field of the keys and paths, and the guitar is in ebow work with reverse pre-delay.
-EL DIABLO EN EL CAMPANARIO -Fantastic performance of L. Marigliano on the trumpet! Jazzy but intoxicating, later (Erni's guitar lines), a mix s sort of Miles meets Fripp?!!
-UN BLUES PARA VALEN -FIRST RECORDING EVER (OF MINE) with the RICKENBACKER Stereo. Mint at these days, I was using it for the first time!. Immediately, the Zonda Projeckt was being born and practically I no longer used another bass!. Also, starting from these theme, the Ric is the bass that I use until the last track in the disc.
-PÁJAROS METÁLICOS -Powerful! INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE OF M. MÁTAR in their energetic guitar solo!
-OJOS DEL SUR -ANOTHER MARVELLOUS GUITAR PERFOMANCE BY M. MÁTAR! 3 guitar lines recorded, and the solo one is beautiful!.-

Enjoy and again my gratitude! -E.
