Magic Spell - "Is There Anywhere a Gas Station?" {Switzerland} [1980] kraut/progressive rock

after isabel's nice post from switzerland, let we continue from switzerland with another mysterious band, magic spell. unfortunately there is no information about the band other than the back cover, one german review i found at net indicates the sound is pretty much similar to eloy. i like the atmosphere and the psychedelic feel of the album. any informations welcome. a hidden treasure for cosmic kraut lovers. enjoy!

Never listened of this band, I intend exactly for the name. After two or three minutes of uncertain choices of sounding and singing, this album starts to show its real face. I think this is a good epidermic progressive rock work, with an attempt of a very modern but effective composing. Also have a notable instrumental carature. The style is hard to describe but some subtle echoes of 79's Pink Floyd, Island, Out in the dark's Flame Dream or Elysium are clearly. I hope not to have exaggerated.

Grateful thanks

Saw them live in concert on June 19th 1982 in Arbon Switzerland at a music festival. They played on the same day as Eloy. I was on vacation and went to the show because I was an Eloy Fan. Went to Europe and bummed around for two weeks.

The group members where located in the region of St. Gallen, Swiss. I was part of the first mixing session for this record in the Dreilinden studios there. As far as I know this was the only LP produced by this group. Some of the musicians where member of other local known groups after the separation of Magic Spell group. Fortunatly I have the record. Today it is very hard to find. I never saw it in any record shop or so.
